My Shoulder Hurts

This is the new game Asher and I play when we make pizza. I toss the dough up old school style, I'm getting pretty good at it too, then let it land on his head. Hygienic? Well, everything gets cooked at 425 so it's a wash. We made pizza on Thursday and I got the dough so big it covered him to the shoulder.

There was a fun run kind of thing in the park near our house. Charlie ran around the park. Twice. That's a big thing for someone who wouldn't walk around the block at the beginning of summer. There was a bouncy house, which Asher hung out in. And a massive jumping contraption thing that blew Charlie's freaking mind.

Asher's first day of School. Well, this is the end of the "open house." Basically a first day where I don't leave. There was some trepidation at first but once he got into the arts and crafts, things went well.

The second day started with more tears. Then his teacher asked him if he wanted a glue stick. The tears STOP, just vanish and he says, "I get my own glue stick?" Yes, she says, you get your own glue stick. "Bye Dad." And off he went. Ne'er another tear was shed.

Back picking apples. We got a few peaches for Peach Cake and went looking for pears (to make a Peach Cake with pears). We walked all OVER. The kids were pretty amazing going up and down these hills, row after row. No pears. Not one damn pear. When we paid for our peaches and apples, every single person in front of us told the lady at the weighing stand there were no pears but she still kept telling new customers the pears were down that hill and over to the left. Almost gave it a Top Gun "Bullshit" sneeze but thought better of it.
Ash on the playground.

This is us walking to the bus for the first day of school (the bus picks her up closer, now). They look so big . . . except for the size of the backpack . . .

  1. Love the glue stick story. It's amazing what catches their attention.

Why did C refuse to walk around the block? Just her hereditary Art-stubbornness?

  2. It's sad- when the day comes that your child will take a glue stick over a parent. It happens to all of us.
New: there is the sound of an early morning rooster across the street.
